About me

Hi, I'm Matthew Lewin – specialty coffee professional, competitor, and educator based in Australia.
 

Over the past decade, I’ve dedicated my career to exploring every facet of coffee: from brewing and service, to training, competition, and the pursuit of better flavour. I currently work with ONA Coffee, where I help shape how we approach coffee quality, education, and innovation – both in Australia and internationally.
 

I’ve had the honour of representing Australia on the world stage as a Barista Champion, and I've used that platform to connect with coffee communities across the globe. Whether I’m preparing a competition routine or training the next generation of baristas, my focus remains the same: to honour the work of producers by bringing out the best in their coffee.
 

As a proud ambassador for Vitasoy Australia, I’m passionate about exploring the possibilities of plant-based coffee experiences, and helping baristas unlock flavour, texture, and creativity through alternative milks.
 

Outside of competition and daily service, I’m deeply invested in mentorship, sensory development, and building spaces where coffee professionals can thrive. I also offer coaching and consultancy for baristas, cafés, and businesses – and I’m always keen to connect with others across the coffee (and wider) industry.
